Kate Doulton 1979 - 2005 Kate Doulton was one of the founding members of Abandon Theatre. Her skills and enthusiasm were integral to our company. She brought a spark that lit up all our lives both professionally and privately. That spark will always be missed. Kate was an immensely talented actress who could turn her skills toward comedy, Shakespeare and the classics just as competently as performing a piece of physical theatre. Kate’s opinions where steadfast and her belief in both us as a company and as individuals never wavered. It is with this knowledge that we continue doing what she loved best – creating great theatre for all. Kate Doulton trained at the Moscow Art Theatre School and the International Lecoq School in Paris. She had previously run theatre workshops for disadvantaged children in french primary schools and experimented with 'imtempo' - a fusion of improvisation, performance poetry and hip hop. Her background in classical theatre, provided her with the necessary skills and competence to tackle, amongst others, two of Shakespeare's most demanding female roles (Hermione in THE WINTERS TALE and Katharina in The Taming of the Shrew) and in more progressive devised work, she was involved in projects at London's BAC and in Paris.
